Fever dreams delude
Protrude into my frozen days
As staunch routines waver
And slip from my iron grasp
The earth falls away
For the spectacles of old
The surreal acts of slumber
That erode my solid ground
I strive to cope
Before mayhem’s deathly swarm
The lurching of shadows
The ghouls in quiet wait
The day is overrun
With marauding ghosts
Their tireless refrain
Thundering, each passing instant
Compromised sunlight
Sits skewered along the shore
Coated in rust
Its insides still festering
