To give and take
Was the dream
The cast-iron way
Of the former world
Pay your dues
Till your time is quenched
Until quiet has conquered
Your plentiful soul
To give far and wide
Was done with ease
With all of your strength
And heartfelt joy
To give unfazed
Was the foremost cause
From which one could never
Defer nor defame
I’ve given my all
Now dignity is frayed
I’ve given my all
Now weariness
Has ravaged
The depths of my frame
