I struck a wall
And quarreled with flesh and blood
Day, by desolate day
My heartfelt words
Were but tumbling weeds
The nomads
Of thistle, of sorrow and fret
For home
Was swollen with sound
Night after night
The exhauster of words
Where the voiceless dissolved
Just barely alive
I slipped by
And out of mind
So that laughter lived on
