The First Conversation

The First Conversation

I was cured of bashfulness
From the moment we spoke
In spite of the fog
Of our range

In spite of our fears
All the haunted roads we’ve tread
Through the past
For the tamest of joys

To converse
To breathe our words of relief
As the hours declined
As nightfall, swooned and sighed

At each kind-loving verse
We dispensed for each other
In our voyage for peace
