The Greatest Meal I’ve Ever Had

The Greatest Meal I’ve Ever Had

White smoke saunters in
From the backyard revelry,
So masterfully sly,
A faint cry of seduction

Hunger,
Rages within like feral dogs
And I sway
And I groan,
Deprived

My delight rushes in with the prey,
To be splayed apart and plucked
Under trained and eager eyes

How it serenades my palate
Having waded in the marinade
Stranding me in a daze
Until I’m swollen and I’m steamed
With unwarranted joy
