Requiem for Starlit Nights

Requiem for Starlit Nights

We’re shielded from the bright eyes of ancients
From their canopy of flames,
They burn forgotten
In a cold wilderness

The vital lights we shed
Leave them glowing in vain,
Shunned by our towers
Encrusted with pride

Is there any place left
Where the shadows grow long,
Where they fan out and flourish
Under a ghostly night sky?
