Captives in the Swell

Captives in the Swell

They’ll scream a delighted goodnight
When they’ve leapt from the stern
Of this star-crossed ship

They’ll laugh farewell
At the clamoring shadows,
From the ruptured hull
When its pale rays of light
All join into one

Freedom, will burn a cruel path
To the secret’s I hold in shackles,
When church bells grieve
Over an acre of stone
