Cyclones and Thunder

Cyclones and Thunder

Cyclones spin on the verge
Of these sacred backwaters,
With a black armada
Of thunder and rain

For weeks I’ll be stranded
From the burning mainland
Where all homes are alight,
By the truths they desire

I’ll retrieve myself;
The lost child in the marsh
Who slipped from my mind
Many nights ago,
Still he wades in November
