After the Flood

After the Flood

One soggy afternoon,
His ink began to run,
Distorting myths
Of royal blues and gold

A spoiled romance
Grew too heavy and slipped
Into the raging gutters
Beneath the onslaught of rain

Now the rogue waves fall
Swollen rivers recede,
Life burns away the shadows
For new fables to thrive and thrive
