The Long Dark Highway

The Long Dark Highway

A highway curves to the east,
To the fringes of a kingdom
Bursting with light
And the pangs of the redeemed

I seek the steep climb
And the scenic decline
To their thunderous plain
For their rescuing embrace

So my phantom misdeeds
Will float in defeat
To the quiet domain
Of dreary days
Long past
