There’s
a new wave of huddled masses
Streaming
through our ports
Strangers,
who bear the full weight of our fears
“Drive
them away”
Is
the war-cry of so-called natives
From
the sons and daughters of old travelers
“Terrorist”
Is
scrawled over every proud name
Every
doctor, every teacher, every wide-eyed poet
Who
dreams and wades into refuge
“Terrorist”
is far too small of a word
For
the large hearts and minds
Who
know, of terror’s full wrath
