Mountains and Desert

Mountains and Desert

Open spaces consume
The luxury that was
On the verge of the sea

They sprawl eastern bound,
To rise and rise
Into snow-capped beasts,
Looming ivory gods

They cannot be claimed
As I push and pull
In my survival stride,
I backslide
To the misty shore
By night
