Phantoms from across the hall
Tunnel into my veins
These invaders reside behind my eyes
Spinning fright
~
I can never outrun
Their fearsome plague in my pulse
The more I sprint
The more I course
With past calamities and ghosts
~
Hushed and haunted words
Rise from me
When I grow, bitter cold and quiet
~
They are only driven out
By a lonely clatter
By a sudden twinge of pain
By a freeing burst of light
