Safe from sorrow
In my own flawed flesh and bones
The day’s warmth carries me
Into the cool and blue dusk
–
It’s been a plentiful day
A savored and colorful feast
One I’ll happily relive
In many distant tomorrows
–
Safe for now
In my own patchwork of scars
Rivers trail through my mind
To wash the panicked dreams away
–
It’s all a passing spell
Drawing nearer to the hour
Every quiet lie explodes
Raining blame and fire
