All along the darkened shore
Cold and spare in the moonlight
The sea’s lonely drag
Births a legion of ghosts
–
All along the broad shadow
Of a boastful city,
They find refuge in the shroud
Far inside of the mind
–
Solid palaces of gold
Are swallowed whole in the tide
Rinsed clean from the body
With the dead-weight of sorrow
–
Nothing rises above
The dark water’s cold wrath
As the skylines capsize
To mortal melodies of desire
