Path Through the Moss-Green Stones

Path Through the Moss-Green Stones

Waist-deep in the swaying grass

In the storm’s quiet eyes,

Sullen and grey

Before the mourning dusk

Uphill

Hurrying back

Past the moss-green stones

Through their guilt-heavy silence

On the lone broken path

Uphill

Before the waterline drearily climbs

Carrying the weight

Of the old wilderness below
