The allure of disappearing,
Turns and turns through the day
When all the blame has been spent
Wrung dry and lifeless
–
A lightning rod burns bright
In a bitter-hearted stare,
Glowing hot in the eye
Of a southern-born storm
–
Vanishing is a luxury I cannot afford,
At this time
While new light
Still thrives in the wild
–
The vacancy left behind
Is it cruel?
Is it mercy?
For all who follow too close
In their hazy affection?
