Surrender

We are but men
Faulty and frail
Servants of gospel
Proclaimers of true excellence!

We skewer the wicked!
Banish them with coldness
Then expunge a bold tale
Of beloved redemption

For creed
We slaughter the wretched
Bound them to their sinful deeds
And bathe them in agony

The doctrine of servitude
Is the adversary of tolerance
To boil the flesh of heretics
Outcasts
Twisted and foul deviants

Return to the narrow margin
Your place tucked in a row
Fall in line
Or seek refuge in hellfire!

One response to “Surrender”

  1. Clare Flourish Avatar

I am unsure of the first two lines. I think the two attitudes coexist in individuals, but not in consciousness at the same time. I would suggest balancing out the grovelling with the arrogance, by developing the idea of the grovelling.

    Neil Peart put it brilliantly:
Quiet in conscience, calm in their Right
    Confident their ways are best
