The soft moan of darkness
Rest upon each trembling earlobe
Lost in cavernous reflection
And the slow, quiet, humbling fall
When the skin freezes over
By the icy, eternal overture
We’ll plead no more
As the motherly dark nears
To drain away our suffrage
To vanquish all living strife
We slip carefully
Into the cherished goodnight
Done away with mourning
In our gradual,willing embrace
And so the world dims
To our fond farewell
Lingering mute
As the gratefully untroubled
