Away From the Burning Shore

Image

Clustered redwoods
Bury the quaint home
The lonely smokestack
Upon northwestern shores

In precious solitude
Where swaying fauna prevail
Caressed ever slightly
By the fleeting breath of day

Crimson brush strokes
Glimmer across the hollow sound
As the hungry set sail
Beneath fluttering rags of white

I’d coast away
From glorious stature
Beyond proud evergreens
And the piercing blue deep

Each morning I’d drift
From emptied shores
With the high hopes of many
From my treasured port of thought
