Roadside Melodies

Roadside melodies
Swallow up idle travelers
With folkloric prose
Cloaked in bitter harmonies

Disheveled vagabonds
Cleave long forgotten trails
To timid ages lost
Where the youth stumbled
Foolish and unbound

Potent words
Roll away
From the lips of aged perfection
In a desperate voyage
For uncaring passersby

These ragged few
Spill fervently and pure
Passionately rugged
Proud, shrill and obscene

Muddied refrains
Cry honestly and bold
Shivering with heartache
Caring not
For water -colored fables

Sugar coated fibs
Fall wayward and meek
Beneath an honest toll
Hefty, brash and true

Cleverly worded poetry illustrating a small fragment of a different life; lived in a seldom ventured perspective. Love this. It has a bard-like quality-one I am very fond of.

Thank you. It was based on a dream I had a few nights ago.
