This transient age
Slips through my nimble fingers
Pooling onto the concrete
And streaming
For the nearest drain
It all rains from me
Fervently pouring
In torrential buckets
I’ll never regain
Time gushes
From my droning thoughts
The ceaseless blare
Of eras departed
I am hopelessly woven
Into the flair of jazz halls
Speakeasy reveries
My ragtime affairs
Further and further
I madly dive
As yesteryear coils
And the present drains away
