Red and White Embers

Red and White Embers

Dusk
Became a keepsake jewel
Housed, in the hull of memory

The clouds were aflame
Rolling forth
Toward oblivion’s
Frozen embrace

To be enslaved
To be swallowed whole
By surging tides of black

I basked in the fall
Their fiery decline
As the earth
Was garbed in shadow
