The First Flare of Havoc

The First Flare of Havoc

The cull
Herds gushed like rivers
Driven by internal mayhem

They choked the roads
At the first flare
Of havoc
How the timid drowned
As stout hearts sailed along

Before they fully knew
Slaughter commenced
The guillotines slaved
Till the fleeting sparks of day

Extermination
Burrowed deep
Inside each heavy heart

Until the rivers
Could gush no more
And silence was foremost
And bountiful
