I was shielded
Among the scattered grey giants
Who fumed
With earth-bound disgust
Daylight was sunk
Engulfed and overdrawn
By the inner plague of distress
So I slipped away
For the heart of obscurity
For its cold and deafening embrace
For the haze
Of its all-encompassing song
Rife with dismay
With the infinite, chorus of death
And I sailed
Truthfully alone
Hopelessly consumed
By the scourge of personal strife
Among the wayward
Disheveled droves
The squandered beings
Who drift all the same
