In the Shadow of a Raconteur

Image

I reveled in the soothing crash
Of out-stretched emerald waters
Raised to their prime
At the slow swarm of dusk
Gently troubled
As souls came and went

The swarm expanded
And droves piled in
From all distinct
Marvelous walks of life

Meshed arrays
Overtook the wooded planks
Drinking in the cool Atlantic wisps
Far gone within their summertime delights

My mind swelled
Consuming the diamond encrusted scene
Life
Carelessly buzzing by
Towering, bold, strange and romantic

The neon blared hot
Stretched along the eastern shore
As lofty voices and colors
Soared and clashed
Hovering above
My young and impressionable thoughts

They are
Fated to forever burn
Fondly, stagnant and undisturbed

I reveled in the firm
Assuring clasp
Of grandfather raconteur
That lingers proudly within my name

(This poem was inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories during a family vacation.)
