Enclosed night by night
Are unpolished ravings
That nest within my skull
Sunlight soothes
All midnight serenades
Far from their home
Of dreary, dark abundance
Daybreak sullies
My shadowy confessions
That have long lurked aimlessly
From beneath my battered hide
I’ve spent every one
And now skeletons remain
Stripped of succulent worth
Dry, hollow and silent
My insides grow cold
As I shell out the mass of insulation
Urged to give and give
Until suffocation
Squanders my life
