Beheld and beloved
Some rise beyond the hedges
Drawing eager glances
That long for epiphany’s touch
Beheld and beloved
The statuesque gush
Spilling their fervor
Propelled by affectionate lust
Yet their halo’s dim
And few turn their way
Torn from reverence
Their sheen in dismay
Beheld and beloved
Over endless rows
In unswerving green
So lifeless and dull
Worthwhile affections
Pour for the true and bold
Shimmering in full prestige
Never to be bought or sold
