I swallowed the horror
Of black roving zeppelins
Scarring the heavens
With thick trails of peril
All sound diminished
In each second of muffled breath
As the skies roared with flame
Slathered in broad strokes
Of murderous red
Cool empathy descended
Skewering my dormant spine
Sending tidal waves of anguish
Into my once lively
Hearth of thoughts
The sirens howled
From every distant corner
Blaring hotly
As the engines revved
Helplessly rolling
Toward the cascade of flame
Hellfire dissolved
At the gushing torrent of dawn
Dousing the inferno
That lurks and lingers
At each hour of rest
