In sprawled hideaway
Where humidity nests
Is kinship’s refuge
Beneath the twining branches
High evergreens
Span endlessly
Echoing former years
My treasured juvenile breaths
The orchestral June
Larks just the same
With familiar, bold hues
Beaming far and wide
Folks thrive
Steadily
Coasting
Day to day
Peacefully
Blissfully
Full and content
With warm greetings
And fine farewells
Comfort is king
In these scalded forests
Beautifully teaming
Time after time
Among true friends
The kind words swarm
Seductively simmering
Beneath each loving drawl
Brisk nights prevail
Under chattering willows
The nocturnal refrain
That blares within
Until the hour I succumb to rest
Until the cold dark
Has coddled my exhausted frame
